From the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office:
At approximately 0540 am on July 16 the Waldo County Dispatch Center received a complaint from a concerned citizen reporting that a truck had left the roadway on Main Street in the Town of Morrill.
Deputy Merl Reed and Darian Nadeau responded to the call and located Eric Hill, 28 years old of Winterport, who was the operator and sole occupant of the 2008 Chevy 1500 truck.
Deputies investigated the accident and it was determined that Mr. Hill had fallen asleep causing him to cross the roadway, enter the ditch where he struck rocks and debris. Deputies detected alcohol on Mr. Hill and after learning that he had a conditional driver’s license that prohibited him from operating a motor vehicle after consuming any alcohol he was subjected to field sobriety. An intoxilyzer test returned results in excess of the legal .08 limit.
Mr. Hills was charged with OUI, Class D and operating beyond license restriction, Class E. Mr. Hill was transported to the Waldo County Correctional Center where his bail was set at $300.00 cash.
