Troy man allegedly places 12 year old in choke hold

From the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office: 
On July 22, 2015 at approximately 1715 hours the Waldo County Communications Center received a 911 report of an assault that had just occurred on the Bishop Road in the Town of Troy. It was reported that a 12 year old juvenile had been choked by a 22 year old male.

Sgt. Nicholas Oettinger and Deputy Kyle Wasiela responded to the call. Once on scene, Deputies learned that a group of people had been gathered at a residence on the Bishop Road in Troy. The group included the 12 year old victim and 22 year old Paul Hustus of Troy.

The victim and witnesses claimed that the 12 year old victim had been joking around with Mr. Hustus when Mr. Hustus placed the 12 year old into a choke hold for several minutes. During this time the victim claimed he almost lost consciousness. Witnesses described the victim as being in obvious distress during the incident.

Deputies interviewed and arrested Mr. Hustus charging him with Aggravated Assault Class B. Mr. Hustus was transported to the Waldo County Correctional Center where he was later released on $1,500.00 cash bail.
