Seal Harbor woman allegedly pretends to be a police officer

Police say a Seal Harbor woman told a motorist she was a police officer after she allegedly ran another person off the road in Dedham Monday. Hancock County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Dana Austin tells Star 97.7, 21 year old Cynthia Andrews is charged with impersonating a public servant.

Austin says when he came on the scene two vehicles were pulled over with Andrews telling the other driver she was a State Police officer. The other driver told Austin, she had ran them off the road. Austin says he suspects she was trying to get out of being in trouble with the other driver.

She told Austin she worked for the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and showed him an access card for that office. Austin says he spoke with both the State Police and Cumberland County S.O. who said Andrews didn’t work for them. The card she had from Cumberland County S.O. was given to her when she was on a school tour there.
