Bangor police confirm Hancock County man was in possession of loaded firearm in Bangor shooting

Bangor police say 23 year old Joshua Jozefowicz had a loaded firearm and discharged it during a foot chase with police Tuesday night in Bangor. They say that the Chief Medical Examiner has confirmed Jozefowicz died from multiple gunshot wounds.

It had been reported witnesses hard gunshots from two firearms. Police chief Mark Hathaway confirmed  Jozefowicz died in the woods behind a Hammond Street convenience store.  The officer who fired, Ryan Jones, is on paid administrative leave while the attorney general’s office investigates the shooting.  Jozefowicz lived on Swan’s Island for a while and his history includes several drug and weapons convictions.  A sister told WABI-TV she didn’t believe Josefowicz had any weapons with him and she thinks police were out to shoot her brother.
