Two women indicted for separate manslaughter charges in Waldo County

From Public Safety Department spokesman Steve McCausland:

“State Police arrested two women on manslaughter charges Thursday afternoon following indictments by the Waldo County Grand Jury earlier in the day. The two women are charged in connection with separate death investigations in the towns of Waldo and Burnham that detectives have been investigating in recent months. The two women made their first court appearance at 11am in Waldo County Superior Court.

The two women are 24 year old Victoria Scott who currently lives in Rockport, and 36 year old Tara Shibles from Thorndike. Both women were arrested at their homes late yesterday afternoon by State Police detectives.

Scott is charged in the death of 43 year old Edwin Littlefield who died outside a home in Waldo on February 8. Scott was arrested at her home at 61 Vinal Street in Rockport .

Shibles is charged in connection with the death of 72 year old Joyce Woods of Burnham who died outside her home after an intruder had entered it in the early morning hours of April 2. In addition to the manslaughter charge, Shibles was also indicted on aggravated criminal trespass and assault. She was arrested at her home at 244 Gordon Hill Road in Thorndike.

Both women were taken to the Waldo County Jail following their arrests.”
