The Tides Institute & Museum of Art in Eastport will present the Annual Great Sardine & Maple Leaf Drop on New Year’s Eve, an international, dual-celebration festivity with the Canadian New Year represented by a giant maple leaf dropped at midnight, Atlantic time, and the U.S. New Year with an 8-foot sardine at midnight, Eastern time.
